THE ONLY PACE PROGRAM IN HAWAII OPENS ON MAUI
September 5, 2008 – In an effort to continuously provide excellent healthcare for Maui’s community, Hale Makua has taken another step forward with the opening of the only PACE, or Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly, in the State of Hawaii. Maui PACE is one of 14 national rural Programs for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly. This Program offers seniors a variety of services to address medical, rehabilitative, and social needs. Maui PACE is made possible by a three-way partnership between the State Department of Human Services, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and Hale Makua.

CMS AWARDS $7.5 MILLION IN GRANTS TO EXPAND PACE PROGRAM IN RURAL AREAS
September 26, 2006 - The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) today announced the award
of $7.5 million to organizations developing Programs of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) in rural service areas. This grant program was initiated through the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005 (DRA) and follows the New Freedom Initiative to develop and provide additional care options in the community while providing more efficient and coordinated care through Medicare and Medicaid.

PACE | AN EVALUATION
June 29, 2005 - The Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) provides integrated acute medical care and long-term care services to frail seniors. PACE provides a community-based alternative to nursing home care when nursing home placement seems necessary. PACE uses blended Medicare and Medicaid financing to provide care for clients.
